If you looked this good after you fought back legions of the rising dead, and being covered in ectoplasm, you'd pose too.

If you looked this good after you fought back legions of the rising dead, and being covered in ectoplasm, you'd pose too.

What can I say that hasn’t been said?  As a nine year old, I fell in love with this movie, and I’ve never fallen out.  Ghostbusters is a pitch perfect film with awesome comedic timing, ridiculous science fiction trappings, and a wonderful sense of whimsy and the fantastic.  (more…)

This movie introduced the cheapest Halloween costume alternatives in film history!

This movie introduced the cheapest Halloween costume alternatives in film history!

James Whale and Claude Rains team up to bring us one of the better horror films ever made from back in the 1930s.  What makes this a horror film?  Well, The Invisible Man does kill a startingly high number of people in this movie, but that doesn’t necessarily add up to great horror.  That he does it with a sense of mirth and mayhem?  Well, we’re getting closer. Who wouldn't want the Dementia 13 lunchbox?

Who wouldn't want the Dementia 13 lunchbox?

I’m afraid that ThatWeirdGirl’s review of Dementia 13 (quite a good film, I think) will have to suffice for today.

I’m suffering from a wicked hangover.  A side effect of being slightly too awesome the day before.  Ugh.

See! This is where dancing around to The Fixx will get you!

See! This is where dancing around to The Fixx will get you!

You want to make an original, brand new horror film.  So, how do you go about it?  Well, if you’re Ti West, maker of 2009s  The House of the Devil, you make it look exactly like any number of old horror films from the early 1980s, because that shit WORKS. (more…)

Somehow, Rutger, I think this guy will be easier to defeat than Harrison Ford.

Somehow, Rutger, I think this guy will be easier to defeat than Harrison Ford.

What can you say about this film, really?  Well, I have a feeling that what I have to say about The Hitcher, a film that seems to be an internet nerd favorite, will not be all that well recieved. (more…)

Ray Milland sees what you do in the shower, and he's not impressed.

Ray Milland sees what you do in the shower, and he's not impressed.

What dangers hath science wrought?  Well, according to the Roger Corman classic sci-fi horror film X:  The Man With the X-ray Eyes, the answer is none.  But, what if you could suddenly see them?  That’s the real question, isn’t it? (more…)

Would that all parody films were created with such love and care as this one was.

Would that all parody films were created with such love and care as this one was.

What can I write about one of the funniest movies ever made?  Not much that you haven’t already heard, so I’ll keep this short.  If you haven’t seen Young Frankenstein, well, first off, what are you doing here?  Second off, do you realize you’re letting one of the best written, most brilliant pieces of film get past you?  No?  Well, get to watching it, dummy! Aww...that's cute. It's like she hasn't seen a horror/monster movie before. You never know until you try!

Aww...that's cute. It's like she hasn't seen a horror/monster movie before. You never know until you try!

Let’s face it.  I’ve watched a lot of horror films.  That being said, it’s easy to get disinterested in the genre.  Then along comes a movie you’ve never heard of and changes everything.  For me, just recently, that movie was the awesome monster flick Splinter. (more…)

Reboot!

gt1We (ThatWeirdGirl and myself) have decided to carry on with the horror film reviews, even though we lost our partner Chris.  Here’s hoping we can work together in the very near future.  Also, the new list of films will be chosen by ThatWeirdGirl.  She also made us another graphic to go with it, that I think is just nifty.  So, starting again today, we will continue to film reviews.  Sorry we missed a day.  Then again, there have been several times in my life that I’ve missed a day of something.  School, work, prison…you name it.

We’re sorry to announce that it appears we will not be able to continue the Trilogy of Terror.  These things happen from time to time.  Therefore, just consider this day a bye and accept our apologies for not getting a review done today.  ThatWeirdGirl and I will begin new reviews tomorrow, with a new list composed of films chosen by ThatWeirdGirl.  FUN!

For now, though…courage.
