One of these days, we’ll get to a movie that I haven’t reviewed before, but it won’t be today.  The Evil Dead is a brilliant, disgusting gem of a film, shot with love, ingenuity, on the cheap, and definitely on the fly. (more…)

Evil Dead 2:  Dead By Dawn is the best of the Evil Dead Trilogy, you say?  Fuck yes it is!  The most fun, the most insane, the most entertaining, the goriest, the most outlandish of the three movies.  There’s no hints that Ash has gone insane in this one.  He not only jumps the border of sanity…he fucking dives over it!

It’s clear that Sam Raimi loves this character (if not the actor…do a little research to find out how he likes to torment his actors. It’s funny!) this premise, and the means with which he tells the story.  This one is gleeful in its mirth!  The Evil Dead in this one are Eviler!  And Deader!  (more…)

How do you handle evil? With a motherfuckin' chainsaw, that's how!

Sam Raimi is, of course, one of the biggest directors of the day.  Certainly, he’s one of the most lucrative.  His Spider-Man films(Don’t get me started.  I love Sam Raimi…but…) have grossed in the billions worldwide.  This would be a tale of “From humble beginnings…”  You see, Sam Raimi’s first distributed film was a little gem called The Evil Dead.

This is the kind of movie that Fangoria was created for.  Is it gory?  Fuck yes, it is…it’s Sam Raimi!  Bruce Campbell here begins his climb to the King of Cult actors as Ash.  Now, if you’ve seen Army of Darkness or even Evil Dead 2 without having seen this one, you’re letting yourself, and all your film loving friends down.  I’ll tell you why.
