Is it just me, or has S Club 7 just stopped trying?

We here at ManWithPez have noticed that the American television scene has gotten a little stale of late.  There are a few sparks out there, but that’s not I’m writing about here today.  Today I’m writing about British TV genre show Misfits, airing on E4.  It’s aired two seasons, one Christmas special, and has announced a third season for later this year.  When 5 delinquents performing community service are suddenly stricken with superpowers, what do they do next?  That’s what’s facing these young twentysomethings.  Also, they’re kind of rude…but in the funniest possible way.  To me, watching this show is like watching someone who decided to fix Heroes…and did it correctly.  Granted the format isn’t quite the same, but the idea is similiar.  So, if you’ve got the ability to see it, by all means, watch Misfits, laugh at Robert Sheehan, and come back and thank me.  I’m worth it!

I told you I’d be back sometime in August, right?  Well, here I am!  For better or worse, actually.  Anyways, Fall is approaching, and, for my money, that’s when the best movies of the year come out, the weather is the best, the holidays get a lot cooler, and people tend to not notice a drunk man standing in a parking lot because they’re too busy being cold.  Sorry about your parking lot, by the way, whoever’s random parking lot that was.  We’re in preparation for a few things around here.  The 30 horror movies of October have to be chosen, the crowning of Miss ManWithPez 2010 must commence, and the maiden voyage of my unsinkable ship, “Peztanic” takes place in November.  Okay, only one of those things is going to happen.  Stick around, though.  I’m happy to be back, and I hope to update with more frequency.  Of course more than zero is a big jump up in anyone’s book.  See you around!

What's with the scissors? You wrappin' a present or somethin'?

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about hard science horror author(and, according to his website, failed pimp) Scott Sigler’s column at AMCTV about lessons learned from monster hunters.  Well, in case you missed it, his site has a podcast, and he very nicely recorded the entirety of the article there.  So, from the author himself, here it is again in audio form, and a very good author will say my name at the beginning.  Well, it’s my nom de ‘net, but still.  Here’s Scott Sigler’s podcast.  Enjoy!

You might not have thought about it, but there’s a tenuous link between the films Sleepy Hollow and Cutthroat Island.  Don’t see it?  That’s okay.  It’s kind of strange.  In Sleepy Hollow, Johnny Depp’s Ichabod Crane gets covered in blood and gore several times throughout the film.  In Cutthroat Island, Matthew Modine gets hit on the head at every oppurtunity.  Why do these things happen?  Because Renny Harlin and Tim Burton are dicks, obviously.  They thought it was funny to torment their actors.  They were right.
