How could you not listen to these two?

How could you not listen to these two?

Later today, I expect to make an announcement that I, and at least two other people are very excited about.  And, it’s not my new haircut, which is an unmitigated disaster.  We’re just ironing out the wrinkles before we get started tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

I Wonder If I Could…

Wed ,29/09/2010

This is Goku.  He’s from Dragonball Z.  He’s part of an alien race called the Saiyans.

Goku1

When a Saiyan gets really, really angry, they go through a physical change that grants them a massive amount of strength.  On the show, they call it “going Super-Saiyan”.  Hmmmm…

I wonder if I could…

Damn it.

Profiles in Super-Nerdery: Dexter Morgan

Prepare to root for the bad guy. (Wait...isn't that tagline taken already?)

Prepare to root for the bad guy. (Wait...isn't that tagline taken already?)

Dexter Morgan (played to eerie perfection by Michael C. Hall) is a bad guy, but he’s not a villain.  Never before have I watched a show where a character performs such heinous acts and rooted for him to succeed.  What’s Dexter do?  Well, he’s a serial killer who exclusively kills people who have performed murder.  With a pedigree so convoluted, how can the Showtime original series Dexter be any good at all?  Easily!  You make your main character so charismatic (at least outwardly) and give him the best intentions that the audience can’t help but be on his side.  Why is he listed here under Super-Nerdery?  How do you think Dexter is able to perform the services that he does?  He displays an uncanny knack for grasping logic that is so finely honed that a Vulcan would exclaim “No fucking way!”.   His day job is that of blood splatter analyst for the Miami Police Department.  And, he’s great at it, too.  Of course, he’s had practice.  Dexter Morgan is a smart man, able to manipulate from far away and close up.  He wouldn’t be able to do the things he does without being a big nerd.  Take that as you will, but I, for one, love the character, and can’t wait to see what the rest of this new season brings.

A year between half seasons? DAMN YOU CARTOON NETWORK!!!

A year between half seasons? DAMN YOU CARTOON NETWORK!!!

Hey, I showed the comic book set plenty of love a few months back…why can’t I do the same for the animated set?  Especially this pair, from two of the smartest shows ever to appear on television, animated or not!  I’m speaking of course of Dr. Byron Orpheus from The Venture Brothers and Daria Morgendorffer from Daria.  Let’s have a look at these two after the jump. The Trouble With Robots

robots

Sure, it’s all cute when they’re toy sized.  Look at the cute little robots.  They’re fighting!  Awwww…but there’s a danger here.  You know what this leads to?

No, not that.  That’s actually pretty cool.  What I meant was:

optimusvsbonecrusher

That’s right!  It leads to Michael Bay movies.  Please…stop with the anthropomorphic robots.  This has been a public service announcement from ManWithPez.  Thank you.

Streaming Internet Theater: Everybody Was Kung-Fu Catfighting!

Oh Dear Lord! The hotness of it!

Oh Dear Lord! The hotness of it!

The cinema catfight is one of the purest pleasures a young man can partake in at the movies.  First off…IT’S FIGHTING!  That never gets old.  Throw in the fact that it’s a couple a ladies throwing down, and you’ve definitely piqued my interest.  Why is this phenomenom so enticing?  I remember when I was in middle school, a fight would break out every other day.  After awhile, I stopped caring.  But, have someone yell out “GIRLFIGHT!” and all the classrooms would empty of people who wanted to see chicks throw down!  Something of the caveman in all of us, I guess.  Some of my favorite celluloid catfights after the jump. Ten New Ways to Annoy College Students

Tue ,21/09/2010
Sure, she's on the hot side, but can she be as annoyed as she is annoying? That's the question.

Sure, she's on the hot side, but can she be as annoyed as she is annoying? That's the question.

Ah, college.  The bastion of higher learning that it would seem society demands we go through in order to make our lives complete. Whether or not you agree with the following statement, let me tell you that having been a college student at the right time (19) and the wrong time (33), it is a stressful time, no matter how old you are.  That being said, it should be fairly easy to annoy your average college student.  Let’s take a look after the jump, shall we? Hot Nerd Crush: Linda Cardellini and Nicholas Brendon

I...uh...Sorry. I was going to say something, and I can't seem to form words.

I...uh...Sorry. I was going to say something, and I can't seem to form words.

Oddly enough, there is a common denominator between these two.  And, it’s Sarah Michelle Gellar.  More on that in a bit.  These two lovely people are very good in the demonstration of acting arts, (or some other configuration of an awkward sentence) and very easy on the eyes.  More about Hot Nerd Crushes Linda Cardellini and Nicholas Brendon after the jump. My Favorite Bromances: Mike Watt and Tim Bisley

"That was the best nap I ever had!"

"That was the best nap I ever had!"

I tell you, Spaced is one hell of a great show.  And part of what made it so great was the come-what-may friendship of Mike and Tim.  Played by perpetual partners Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (wait…switch that), their relationship was not only funny, but touching at times in a show where the personal relationships of the characters kept the fabric of the show taut.  Find out why these two boys kept me watching Spaced after the jump.
