Simply the Nerdiest Friday Night…Ever.
Friday, January 22nd, 2010What are you doing Friday? Cause this is what I’m doing. ThatCostumeGirl wants very much to see this. I’ll be honest with you. I’m a huge geek (per my fiance’s description), but this is probably a stretch too far for me. I hope to be proved wrong. But, this looks astonishingly, horrifyingly like H.R. Puffenstuff to me…and I HATED that show. So, here’s what I’m going to do. I love my girlfriend, so I’m taking her to see this…and then to wash the taste of it out of my mouth, I’m going to drink an astounding amount of whiskey, and watch Rankin-Bass’s The Hobbit that I loved as a child. It’s my understanding, as well, that ThatCostumeGirl has never seen it, so, bonus points for me. Also, this cartoon still scares me, and I love this particular characterization of Smaug the dragon. So, yeah…Nerd it up. I know I am. Here’s the part of the film that has Bilbo’s conversation with Smaug. If you’ve never seen this, I can’t recommend it enough. Enjoy your night! I hope I do.

It wasn’t like H.R. Puffenstuff at all. It was neat. I think we were too old to truly enjoy the show. An perhaps we knew too much of the story to suspend belief.
I did enjoy the cartoon though. I’ll have to watch Return of the King now too.
You forgot the whiskey.
