Hot Nerd Crush #2: Felicia Day

Mon ,19/10/2009
Dear God, I've never wanted to be a library ladder so bad in my entire life!

Dear God, I've never wanted to be a library ladder so bad in my entire life!

This one wasn’t a hard decision.  I’ve had a big crush on this actress from the first time I heard her sing.  I carry a torch for women that are gorgeous and funny.  (Oddly enough, not so much for women that only have one of those traits)  So, it should be no surprise that this weeks Hot Nerd Crush is another redhead, and Whedon alum (along with last week’s Hot Nerd Crush:  Alyson Hannigan)  Felicia Day! My Own Wolf Enemy

Yeah, that rack would probably do the same thing to me too.

Yeah, that rack would probably do the same thing to me too.

Ah, the oldest of the horror films I’ve reviewed thus far is 1941’s The Wolf Man starring Lon Chaney Jr.  I’m a werewolf fan, yes, I am, and I love this movie.  Mostly for Chaney’s sympathetic portrayal of a man who clearly doesn’t understand the pickle he’s gotten himself into. (more…)

Happy Birthday IMDb!

19, eh? Don't suppose you'd like to go out with me later?

19, eh? Don't suppose you'd like to go out with me later?

Today, the Internet Movie Database, or IMDb turns 19!  That’s amazing.  Besides being one of my favorite sites, it is an invaluable reference tool.  Unfortunately, some of its users are some of the meanest people on earth.  Also, I’ve seen some of the stupidest things ever said on that site.  But, that’s okay.  Stick to the facts and you’ll be okay!

Happy Birthday IMDb!  See you on your 20th!

Drag Me Where? No WAY!

Damn! Graverobbers are getting sexier every day!

Damn! Graverobbers are getting sexier every day!

Sam Raimi’s return to horror, Drag Me To Hell, signals that the Spider-Man franchise director hasn’t forgotten where he came from.  And, that’s straight out of the dinky little cabin in the woods from Evil Dead.  Indeed, he never really left, just took a break to direct some of the biggest grossing films of all time.  There are a few differences, of course.  You don’t direct the body of work that Raimi has and not pick up a few tricks. Walken Gets Some Head

"Ohhh. So this is how Tim Burton sees the world."

"Ohhh. So this is how Tim Burton sees the world."

You might not have thought about it, but there’s a tenuous link between the films Sleepy Hollow and Cutthroat Island.  Don’t see it?  That’s okay.  It’s kind of strange.  In Sleepy Hollow, Johnny Depp’s Ichabod Crane gets covered in blood and gore several times throughout the film.  In Cutthroat Island, Matthew Modine gets hit on the head at every oppurtunity.  Why do these things happen?  Because Renny Harlin and Tim Burton are dicks, obviously.  They thought it was funny to torment their actors.  They were right. La Femme Nikita Gets Fangs!

Somebody left this ham out, and it went bad!

Somebody left this ham (Don Rickles) out, and it went bad!

To put it bluntly, Innocent Blood is no American Werewolf in London.  It tries to be, but the same level of quality just isn’t there.  Both films were directed by John Landis, but, where humor and horror mixed well on Werewolf, they kind of go the oil and water route in Innocent Blood. (more…)

10 Newer Ways To Annoy People

Fri ,16/10/2009
What? Too soon?

What? Too soon?

In a drunken haze last Friday…or Saturday, honestly, I can’t remember that far back, I posted 10 New Ways to Annoy People.  I had so much fun writing it that I’ve decided to try and make it a weekly part of ManWithPez here.  So, here’s 10 NEWER ways to annoy people.  Well, newer by a week. (more…)

Grant Imahara Vs. Chuck Norris

Fri ,16/10/2009
If you apologize and don't make eye contact, he might not use that sword.

If you apologize and don't make eye contact, he might not use that sword.

By now, you’re familiar with the concept.  Chuck Norris is great, yes, but he’s a little much for some of the nerds out there.  Ironic, considering it was internet nerds that fueled the foofaraw from the start.  So, let’s pit Chuck (like we have previously) against someone a little more our speed, and hopefully, wit will take might in the end.  With that in mind, here’s a list inspired by Mythbusters build-team member (and forever crush of ThatCostumeGirl), Grant Imahara. That’s Some Hot Toaster Right There!

This must be what Heaven looks like (according to the last episode).

This must be what Heaven looks like (according to the last episode).

Presenting your Maxim November covergirls Tricia Helfer and Grace Park!   Dear God, that’s a lotta hot to put on the cover of one magazine!  Seriously!

True, it’s to promote the upcoming The Plan movie, directed by craggy-ass Edward James Olmos (Okay, that’s not true.  I met the guy, and he was sweet as hell.) The Plan was written by veteran Battlestar writer and former Buffy scribe Jane Espenson.  Pity these pictures are not just for me (ALL FOR MANWITHPEZ!!! NONE FOR YOU!!!) but that’s okay.  I guess you guys can look too.  If you look around (pssst…here), you can find other pictures of the dynamic quatro. (What?  Last I looked there were four boobies at play here!)  If you look around on the Maxim website, you’ll find video of the shoot, with Tricia Helfer doing what she does best…turning me on.  And Grace Park…What can I say about Grace Park.  Well, nothing that doesn’t involve a lot of filthy sexual euphemisms.

But remember the advice Battlestar’s Dr. Baltar, James Callis gave me:  Beware of Cylon Blondes.  That’s why I’m going for the brunette!  Thanks, James Callis!

(Oh, and I’m aware of the Phasers reference on the cover…don’t worry, there’s a retraction right under that statement.  Whew, for a second there, I was afraid I just wouldn’t be able to look at the pictures!)

Something ELSE To Piss Off Alan Moore

Thu ,15/10/2009
If you looked half as good, and were as good an actor, you'd look smug too.

If you looked this good, you'd be smug, too. Don't deny it!

I’m just gonna come right out with it.  My favorite Alan Moore work is The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.  Am I talking about the movie?  Fuck no!  I mean the first two graphic novels.  I’ve not read all of From Hell, and I doubt that’s going to change anytime soon, but I will say this from what I’ve read.  I prefer the movie x10!
