The Pearl and I

She seems nice, sure, but I've seen that cat lay waste to several people.
Several years ago, while I was in the Air Force and away from my hometown, the people I went to school with got bored (Well, yeah, we were from MiddleofNowhere, KY) and started videotaping themselves in various acts of idiocy. That’s backyard wrestling, parties, neverending movies, etc. Most of it was strictly amateur. A funny thing happened on the way to the video store, though. I never thought them videotaping themselves would outlive the 90s. I’ve never been so happy to have been proven wrong.
A core group of these hooligans began to form, and noticed that they were actually brewing some talent in their midst. To date, they’ve made a cable access show, several standalone movies, a great website and two webseries. While the first of these, The Shawn and Josh Show was a little on the unpolished side, it’s not without it’s charm…vulgar as it is. (Actually…this gives vulgar a new name. Let’s call it: Shawnandjosh. Shawnandjosh is now the new name for vulgar.) The Shawn and Josh Show followed a family of drunken, drugged reprobates who all seemed to hate each other. That’s on the one hand. On the other hand, it had an appearance from personal favorite professional wrestler Al Snow! From the title, and I’m not certain they were able to get this message across, but, the show starred Shawn Coots and Josh Keown.

Me, Josh K., Josh H., and Steve! Chris G is missing here! WHERE IS CHRIS!?!
That particular webseries came and went. Enter Yellowberri! Yellowberri is a small, but very, very talented mulitmedia company based in Bowling Green KY. They were looking to produce something, and Josh had another idea for a webseries. Say hello to The Pearl and I. The now divorced Josh lives with his cursed, Schwan’s truck driving, talking cat named Pearl(No, I’m not making any of that up. That’s really the story), who seems a bit dubious of almost everything Josh might be involved in. Especially his search for love. At least, that’s how it seems. The series hasn’t finished yet, but so far, has been very promising. It’s even attracted quite a bit of local attention for Yellowberri and Josh himself. Stories about Pearl have ended up in a few newspapers so far, and thousands of people have watched The Pearl and I over at FunnyorDie, where every episode has retained an above 90% funny rating.

Oh look! A logo.
Why would I tell you…my six followers (Hi Mom!) about this? Well, you see. I recently went home for a visit, and Josh needed a villain for his piece. Here was my real introduction to Pearl and movie production on a higher scale than I was used to seeing (Which was whoever could bring their Hi8 camcorder over and tape some bullshit in the nearest guy’s backyard.) The experience was great (But would have been better had Josh actually sent me a script.) and I got to mine the surprising depths of Yellowberri’s production knowledge. My first appearance in The Pearl and I started with a kitty nightmare sequence at the beginning of episode 4. The Pearl and I stars Josh Keown, Chris Gaskey, Josh Hampton, Steve Brown, Ammi Odle, Pearl, and Lesley Coots as the voice of Pearl the cat.
So, if you get the chance, have a look at The Pearl and I. It’s actually pretty funny, and you know Yellowberri is a great group of professionals, as they actually managed to make me look menacing.
No small feat. Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of Pearl can be found here…Here’s Part 4 below.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, please. It was my pleasure. I’m just sorry I didn’t get it out earlier. All those movie reviews kinda take it out of me.
Okay, that’s total bullshit, I love writing the reviews.
